BBL Treasurer’s Secret Meeting

BBL Treasurer Lachlan McLean has been spotted shaking hands with BEST Blazers Co-Coach Travis Lee in what appears to be a secret meeting.

The image - which was leaked by an anonymous source - shows Mr McLean wearing a Greenbank Gators jersey and has sparked rumours of a return of the previously financially unviable team to the league.

Mr McLean denies the rumours, stating his meeting with Mr Lee was simply a friendly catch up with a member of the league. 

“Travis has just gone from the Mixed Mavericks head coach and stepped into the Co-Coach for the BEST Blazers and I was congratulating him on an important step in his career,” Mr McLean said.

When asked about the Greenbank Gators jersey Mr McLean claimed it was a coincidental fashion choice.

“It’s retro," he said.

Mr Lee confirmed the meeting with Mr McLean was an innocent meeting between colleagues but acknowledges Mr McLean’s choice of jersey would only bolster rumours about a Gators return.

“I’ve heard the locker room talk about an old team coming back to the league - nobody is saying anything about it being a new team though,” Mr Lee said.

“I don’t have anything to do with which teams play in the league so I can’t speak to that - can’t confirm if the rumours are true,” he said.

BBL President Hayden Forbes would not deny that the Greenbank Gators were making a comeback to the league. 

“We are always looking to expand and consider keeping all of our options open,” Mr Forbes said.
