Support Worker/Key Worker

Three Campus Locations: Slacks Creek, Greenbank & Hillcrest.

Multiple vacancies available - Cert 3 in Individual Support is a must! If you are an active, empathetic, and optimistic individual who is passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities to enjoy a fulfilling life, this role could be very suitable for you. Please note this is a part-time role.

About Us

BEST Disability Support (BEST) is an NDIS-funded learning centre in Logan that teaches real life and work skills with tangible results through modern programs young adults actually want to engage in. We offer both group and 1:1 supports, as well as community access supports to young people aged 16-30.

The Role

At BEST, we do things differently to the rest of the industry, so we need someone who is truly invested in our mission. You will be supporting - not leading - our Members as they learn new life and work skills, and you will have a passion or talent that you can share with them as well!

Your Duties

As a Support Worker, known as a Mentor, you will be responsible for the safety, fun, and learning of young people with disabilities.

Your day-to-day tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting Members as they learn new skills in one of our many programs

  • Completing 1:1 schedules for your regularly rostered shifts

  • Ensuring Member safety both on campus and when out in the community

  • Providing emotional and social support to Members

  • Investing in the success of our Members and supporting them to achieve their goals

  • Providing 1:1 support on campus and in the community for our members with higher support needs.

Your Skills

Absolute must-haves:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment: No, seriously, we’re constantly on the move, whether that be on campus or at parks, shops, and more!

  • Be a jack-of-all-trades: Diverse backgrounds and skills are key to ensuring our Members have exposure to a wide range of experiences, so be sure to let us know of any of your weird, wacky, and wonderful areas of interest.

  • A compassionate personality: You must be a patient, kind, and caring person as we will not accept anything less

  • Be and have fun: We want all of our staff and Members to love coming to BEST, so being someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously is essential (singing and dancing badly is encouraged)

  • Belief in the BEST mission: We want our Members to actually learn the skills they need to achieve their goals, and eventually not need us anymore!

Essential Certificates and Licenses

You will need to have obtained the following before starting this new role:

  • Cert 3 in Individual Support

  • Blue Card

  • NDIS Worker Screening

  • QLD Police Check

  • Completed First Aid/CPR Certificate

  • Completed NDIS Worker Orientation

  • Current Driver's License

What We Offer

  • An excellent working environment with a fun team culture

  • Opportunities for career development

  • An ongoing role within a well-established business

  • Ability to provide genuine feedback to develop the business

  • Options for campus-based 1:1 shifts to ensure you have support from the team
